Vessi + Shipfusion: Case Study
by Christie McLeod on May. 4, 2020
Need to act fast in the current global pandemic situation? Using a fulfillment center like Shipfusion frees you from navigating the stress of managing your inventory, shipping and receiving processes during this uncertain time.
Learn how eco-friendly footwear brand Vessi partnered with Shipfusion to help support front line workers during the COVID-19 pandemic and used Shipfusion’s fulfillment center services to deliver on its promise to give back.
Meet Vessi
Vessi was started by three Vancouver natives who were sick and tired of the rainy weather. In 2017, the trio set out to create a 100% waterproof sneaker that not only kept socks dry but kept feet sweat-free, comfortable, looked stylish and was good for the earth. We sat down with Vessi co-founder Mikaella Go to learn more about the company’s story and how they’ve adapted their new COVID-19 initiative for front line workers.
Fulfillment Center Lends a Helping Hand
Vessi is focusing on listening to customers and learning what causes they care about and which communities are most impacted during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“It’s all about finding out where the gap is and how Vessi as a company can help fill that gap. Our COVID-19 initiative started when we asked our customers, what do you need help with right now? We received hundreds of responses around healthcare workers not having the proper equipment to fight against the disease. There is a huge lack of masks right now, so that became our first initiative. Through creating a donation model we were able to give customers a discount on our product and we would take the profits from those sales and buy masks on the customer’s behalf. I think we were lucky enough because we already had the infrastructure in place with our many factories overseas. Vessi was able to purchase over 300,000 masks–which is amazing! Our next response initiative was to push out 1000 pairs of free shoes for front line workers. Luckily, we had a great opportunity partnering up with our product fulfillment company Shipfusion on this, they were more than happy to help out and offer free fulfillment services on these items. It’s all about people helping people. Shipfusion has allowed us to be fairly hands-off when it comes to shipping orders and inventory management so it was fairly easy on our end to set up this COVID-19 giving back initiative with them. Working with Shipfusion has allowed us to spend our time during this crisis talking to our customers, responding to them and making sure we are getting them what they need; Instead of being involved in the inventory and shipping operations. Everything is being streamlined and automated so there is never any stress when it comes to fulfilling orders. We wanted our brand to share the message that we are all waves in the same sea.”

Key Metrics:
- 1000 pairs of shoes donated to front line workers with free Shipfusion fulfillment services
- 40% of profits from every shoe sale goes towards the purchase of masks for front line workers.
Working Together
“Shipfusion was the first product fulfillment center we signed on with and have been extremely happy ever since. We have transparency with our inventory, direction and communication with account managers and even the developers who have created custom integrations in our platforms. Shipfusion answered all of our questions quickly and walked us through solutions and the partnership has evolved ever since. We have taken advantage of Shipfusion’s multiple fulfillment centers across Canada and the US which has helped push our product out nationally in the States. The prices were transparent and we were consulted during the entire onboarding process. The partnership has grown during this whole Coronavirus/ COVID-19 situation, seeing how Shipfusion was able to step up and join in on this project with us has been amazing”.
“ Shipfusion was quick to jump on board in this partnership by being collaborative, driven, and innovative. I would and have recommended Shipfusion to all of Vessi’s business networks.”
